Chamomile is a soothing herb for the mind that also relaxes the gut, chamomile has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, sedative, and anti-microbial activity. Chamomile is also useful to prevent flies and was traditionally hung in stables. The dried flowers can be infused in water and used as a spray to deter flies. Chamomile is traditionally used as a sedative and has calming essential oils. It can be given to anxious horses before floating or with a change to environment to calm nervous nellies.

Available as organic herbal glycetract or the dried flowers.

Dosage: up to 30mL a day or the glycetract or 50 grams of the flowers can be fed to the horse or infused in water.

Recommended Dose: 1 handful of dried flowers daily

Warning: Chamomile is considered to be a very safe herb, however some horses can have an allergic reaction to chamomile and so testing with a smaller dose (10mL of glycetract or 10g of the dried flower). A horse can have an allergic conjunctivitis to chamomile.
